Nice job, Mr. Gentile. Congrats to TWM’s Jordan Gentile who just passed his Series 65, the Uniform Investment Adviser Examination! His business card now reads Assistant Financial Adviser and, among his many duties, he will be serving as client account manager for our Legacy and Growth accounts.
Charity in Focus: uAspire. From time to time we share information about charities that do well by getting a healthy social return on each dollar contributed by donors. This is the mission of TWM’s new philanthropy advising initiative, headed by Marianne Thompson, which you’ll hear more about early next year.
Today we’re highlighting uAspire, an organization providing free college affordability advice and advocacy to students and families in Massachusetts, Miami, and the San Francisco Bay area. Locally, uAspire Massachusetts has an operating budget of $3.8 million and serves 10,000 young people and families in Boston, Fall River, Lawrence, Springfield, Cambridge and Somerville. They recently launched a new 5-year strategic plan with the goal of providing college affordability services to 45,000 low-income students and families across Massachusetts by 2020.
And what kind of return does this organization offer donors? How about this: for every dollar donated, uAspire has been able to unlock $61 of financial aid! For the high school class of 2013, that resulted in over $101 million in aid to low income and first generation college students.
